NEXT Mobile - Team Chats

Overview

Team Chats is a dedicated space within NEXT for messaging other users directly in the mobile app. It includes Channels for group messaging around specific topics or teams, and Direct Messages for one-on-one or group conversations with other NEXT users.

Before You Begin

• You must be signed in to the NEXT mobile app.

Accessing Team Chats

To access Team Chats, complete the following steps:

1. Sign in to the NEXT mobile app.

2. Tap the Team Chats icon at the bottom of the screen.

3. The Team Chats page opens.

Navigating the Team Chats Page

At the top of the Team Chats page, there are three tabs:

Below the tabs, the page is divided into two sections:

• Channels — The channels you are a member of.

• Direct Messages — All your direct messages with other NEXT users.

NOTE: Tap the chevron icon next to Channels or Direct Messages to minimize that section.

Channels

Channels are shared messaging spaces within Team Chats, similar to channels in Slack. They allow multiple NEXT users to communicate in a shared thread organized around a specific topic, team, or purpose.

Creating a Channel

To create a channel, complete the following steps:

1. Tap the pencil icon.

2. In the Create new window, select New Channel.

1. Search for or scroll to select the NEXT users you want to add to the channel. You can add multiple users.

2. Tap Next.

3. Enter a name in the Channel name field.

1. Tap Create.

NOTE: The channel name must be unique.

Messaging in a Channel

Once in a channel, you can:

• Tap the + sign to attach photos, files, or videos.

• Tap the blue arrow icon to send your message.

Direct Messages

Under Direct Messages, all your existing direct messages with other NEXT users are listed. Tap on an individual message to open the message thread.

Creating a Direct Message

To create a new direct message, complete the following steps:

1. Tap the pencil icon.

2. In the Create new window, select New Message.

1. On the New Message screen, search for and select the NEXT user you want to message. To add multiple users, tap message text box, then tap the To field again.

Direct Messages with One User

When you open a direct message with one user, the message thread opens.

Tap the drop-down arrow next to the user's name for the following options:

• View Profile — Takes you to the user's profile.

• Remove Conversation — Removes the conversation. A confirmation window appears — tap Remove Conversation to confirm.

In the message thread, you can:

• Tap the + sign to attach photos, files, or videos.

• Tap the blue arrow icon to send your message.

Direct Messages with Multiple Users

When you open a direct message with multiple users, the group message thread opens.

Tap the drop-down arrow next to the user's name for the following options:

• View Group — Shows all members of the group message.

• Remove Conversation — Removes the conversation. A confirmation window appears — tap Remove Conversation to confirm.

In the message thread, you can:

• Tap the + sign to attach photos, files, or videos.

• Tap the blue arrow icon to send your message.

Starting a Video Meeting from a Group Direct Message

To start a video meeting with group members, complete the following steps:

1. In the group message thread, tap the camera icon.

2. The New Meeting window appears with the following options:

   • Meet Now — Starts an instant video meeting with the group members.

   • Schedule meeting — Opens the scheduling panel to schedule a future meeting with the group members.
