NEXT Web - Team Chats Overview

Overview

Team Chats is a dedicated space within NEXT for messaging other users directly in the platform.

Before You Begin

• You must be signed in to NEXT with an active account.

Accessing Team Chats

To access Team Chats, complete the following steps:

1. Sign in to NEXT.

2. Click the Team Chats icon in the left navigation bar.

1. Or, on the Home page, click the arrow next to the number in the Unread Internal Messages box.

2. The Team Chats page opens and displays your direct mentions in @ Mentions, channels under Channels, and team chats under Direct Messages.

The Teammate Information Panel

When viewing a direct message with one teammate, the Teammate Information panel is displayed to the right, showing that teammate's details. From this panel you can also reach your teammate using the following:

• Message — Send the teammate a message.

• Call — Call the teammate.

• Video — Start an instant video meeting with the teammate.

NOTE: The Teammate Information panel is only available for direct messages with one teammate.

@ Mentions

The @ Mentions section is located below All Team Chats and displays all instances where you have been mentioned in a Team Chat. Click on an individual mention to go directly to that message.

The Group Chat Members Panel

When viewing a group chat with multiple teammates, the Group chat members panel is displayed to the right. This panel shows the names of all teammates in the chat and their current status in NEXT.

Searching Messages

To search for a specific message, click the search icon in the upper right corner of the individual team chat.

NOTE: Search is only available within an individual team chat or group message. It is not available from the All Team Chats view.

Filtering by Communication Channel

You can filter messages by communication channel in both the All Team Chats view and within an individual team chat. The available filter options differ depending on where you are.

Filtering in the All Team Chats view:

1. Click the filter icon.

2. Select one or more of the following options:

   • Call

   • SMS

Sorting Messages

To sort messages within an individual team chat or group message, complete the following steps:

1. Click the vertical ellipsis (⋮).

2. Click or hover over Sort.

3. Select one of the following options:

   • Newest on top — Displays the most recent messages first.

   • Oldest on top — Displays the oldest messages first.

NOTE: Sorting is only available within an individual team chat. It is not available from the All Team Chats view.

Changing Screen Alignment

To change the screen alignment within an individual team chat, complete the following steps:

1. Click the vertical ellipsis (⋮).

2. Click or hover over Alignment.

3. Select one of the following options:

   • Left aligned

   • Left & right

NOTE: Alignment is only available within an individual team chat. It is not available from the All Team Chats view.
